Project Description

Black River Park Development

New office and retail space

A project originally conceived in 1999, this accommodating, well-loved campus has become a premier office address within the Cape Metropole. This was a large-scale adaptive reuse project: a 1926 factory building inspired a range of fitting architectural expressions in the precinct. The red brick is pleasing, simple to maintain, and complimented by the trees and plants that wrap and weave through the space. The complimentary glass façades were specially engineered to meet environmental building standards. The campus makes the most of its splendid location, framing iconic views of Devil’s Peak. In addition to accommodating car traffic, roads are pedestrian spaces. Parking is visually subservient to the planted landscaping. The success of the development is testament to the vision of the Faircape Group, whose idea of an integrated office estate is validated by the ongoing success of the project and the rise in property values in the surrounding housing area. It is a promising example of integrating office space into a mixed industrial and residential area.

The Black River Office Park is an A-Grade office space. The Green Building Council of South Africa rated these buildings 5 stars, making it the first office park to be Green Star rated in South Africa.
